We have all heard the saying "You are what you eat". We certainly have been reminded of this past Thanks Giving Weekend! How many of you ate too much and felt like you could crawl into a corner and sleep the rest of the night.
For some of us our food choices are already wholesome, organic and we've already taken the steps to be mindful and conscientious of what goes into our bodies...but we all have that occasional chocolate, chips, crackers, sugar, coffee indulgence. If we "treat" ourselves to these foods once or twice a week, it probably won't kill us, but if we treat ourselves a couple times a day...the negative effects will take place over time.
We also need to be aware that what we absorb through the skin is just as important as what we put in our mouths. Our skin is the largest organ we have and you should NEVER put anything on it that you would not put in your mouth.
Here is what Bridget Shaw writes on her Step Three:
STEP THREE - HELP THEM CLEAN OUT THE FOOD CUPBOARDS
Every single morsel of food and drink that goes into our body has to have a purpose.
Clean out the fridge, freezer and pantry. Get rid of any food that is processed, not whole and not organic. Finding alternatives for comfort food is important so they don't feel deprived. Make healthy popcorn if they like to eat chips. Buy nut milk if they are a milk drinker. Make a nice Raw Energy Ball (Google the recipe) if they need a healthy sweet.
Stop using commercial cleaners, soaps, toothpaste and shampoo. Start shopping at your local health food store for chemical free cleaners and personal care products.
